About
Before moving to New York, Zoe grew up in Belvidere, Illinois, where she studied with Jacques Saint Cyr at the Music Academy of Rockford for 6 years. She now studies flute performance at New York University on a Steinhardt Scholarship with Soo Kyung-Park.
Zoe was an active member of the Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra. As the 1st place winner of the 21/22 RSYO Concerto Competition, Zoe had the honor of soloing with them in a performance of the Mozart Concerto #2 in D Major. Zoe received 1st and 3rd place awards from the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center’s Chandler Starr Miller Scholarship Competition, and earlier performed in their “Young Musicians Series”. Zoe was selected to play in both the ILMEA district and all-state honors ensembles 3 years in a row, and performed in the Rockford Wind Ensemble Honor Band. She earned six division-one ratings between the IHSA Solo and Ensemble Contests and was named an alternate for the NAFME All-National Honor Band.
Zoe takes pride in her community involvement. She has enjoyed soloing with the Measure Five Student Orchestra, performing at the Anderson Japanese Gardens, teaching private lessons, playing in the Starlight Theater pit orchestra, and managing/co-founding the Fifth Inversion String Quartet. Zoe has worked for the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, and the Boone County Arts Council, where she had the opportunity to work with local artists and musicians. She loves supporting the arts in all forms- and spent much of her high school career performing in jazz band, three different choirs, and serving as co-president of her school’s Tri-M Music Honor Society. She has also been managing her Etsy shop since 2019, where she sold stickers and almost 600 face masks nationwide.
